0 How to Get Pregnant Fast

After establishing our home and careers, my husband and I decided it was time to make our family whole. At age 40 we were going to get pregnant. I tossed away all of my contraceptives and we got to work. Each month for a year would pass, and each month I was visited by my period. We were getting a bit frustrated, knowing that time was ticking away and we had not conceived. It was time to do a bit of research. I started asking my friends for tips on how to get pregnant fast, but heard a lot of “old wives’ tales.” In the meantime, year two ticked away with no results.

I decided it was time to talk to my doctor to see if there was anything we should be doing that would help us  on how to get pregnant fast. She discussed the subject with me at length, and I left with a renewed sense of hope. My husband and I continued our efforts to conceive. However, each month brought more disappointment. After a total of three years, our patience was wearing thin as more and more of our friends and relatives announced the birth of their children, but we continued to follow our doctor’s advice.

We finally gave in and tried to get used to the thought that we were not able to have children. We began to investigate the possibility of adoption. But even this option seemed that it would take a very long time before allowing us to raise a child. Then one day I woke up to an overwhelming feeling of nausea followed by a short bout of vomiting. This continued for several days before I realized that I had not had my period. I am finally pregnant.

The tips about ways to increase fertility our doctor gave us paid off. First, get a preconception checkup to be sure that there are no underlying conditions that may affect pregnancy. Know your cycle to be aware of ovulation for the best time to conceive. Don’t overdo it when it comes to the number of times you have intercourse. It can deplete a man’s sperm count. Every other day around ovulation gives the same chance of conception. Lay in bed for 10 to 15 minutes after intercourse to allow sperm to travel to the cervix. Follow a healthy lifestyle including exercise and a healthy diet. If you are still unable to conceive there are other fertility treatments that may help.
